CPD Training
Mary will be organising a comprehensive programme of training for 2017/18.  Please ask Mary to put you on her mailing list for future events.

THE FUNDAMENTALS OF WORKING WITH COUPLES. (formerly known as Introduction to Working With Couples)  Two days, the first day is all about the dynamics of partner relationships. What happens in the first session is demonstrated with a roll play using delegates acting as a couple under Mary’s guidance – often regarded as key learning experience. On the second day David Schnarch’s model of Differentiation is discussed together with an introduction to talking about sexual issues in the therapy room, exploring a few of the most common sexual dysfunctions and how they can be addressed.

COMMUNICATION AND DIFFERENCE. A 2 Day course both for those who usually work one to one, and for those who work with couples. You will explore communication strategies and how the thinking styles of each partner affects the couple relationships (Metaprogrammes). Key to this is understanding the need to celebrate differences in partners and avoid co-dependent or fused relationships.

DEALING WITH AFFAIRS. Two days based on work by Rona Subotnik, Gloria Harris, Kate Epstein and the work of David Schnarch. The course will look at why affairs happen, the reactions to them and beliefs that are associated with them. How to say sorry and forgive, confront fears and progress to a differentiated couple (not co-dependent or fused) will be explored and practised in exercises.

LETS TALK ABOUT SEX. What response can you give to a client in a therapy setting about human sexuality.  This course explores your own attitudes, values and beliefs around sex and gives you material to become confident working with sexuality in the therapy setting.
RESOURCES IN SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION. An advanced level masterclass for all clinicians and therapists wanting to work with sexual difficulties.  This course goes into some depth assessment, diagnosis and treatment options for sexual difficulties from a physical and emotional perspective.

. Enhancing skills in working with couples using role play and case discussion, based on work by Juliet Grayson and Mary Clegg.

Do you want to practice and hone your skills in Couples Counselling? If you have been on one of Juliet’s Couples Courses you will have explored the valuable aspect of the role play which allows you to experience the dynamics of couple therapy, put theory to practice and discover whether this way of working is for you. Many have commented that they want more practice in developing skills in this area thus the decision to run these workshops so that you can become more confident and comfortable working with couple clients.

This is not just for the inexperienced but for any therapist who wants to refresh their way of working, learn new ways to work with clients and bring their work to life in a different way.

Mary has outcome measures from all of her workshops.  The feedback from these workshops demonstrates that she maintains a very high standard of quality in her work.  The testimonials given to her are genuine and were not given anonymously but in email after the event. She is very happy to show any delegate these forms as she is rightly proud of them.
“I just wanted to thank you again for a fantastic day yesterday. As I said at the time, it is a sensitive subject and you were excellent. I feel that I have already learnt so much and when I have time to reflect properly I’m sure I will find I have benefited even more than I realise at this time.”

“Thank you very much for all the handouts which are so informative.  I really enjoyed the day.”
“I won’t be scared or wary if sexual issues come up in the consulting room”

“Thank you for a great workshop yesterday. I learned a lot and feel more able to talk to clients about sex or to refer them to a specialist, such as yourself.”

“I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your workshop on Friday; it was both really interesting and entertaining.”

“Thank you for all the handouts and for such an informative day on Friday, there was so much I didn’t know but thought I did!!  It has already been beneficial to me in signposting clients in the right direction.”
